Every safety feature on this page is in the app today. Where a feature has limits, we say so.
Face verification
When you verify, the app asks for a live selfie and compares it with the photos on your profile. If they match, your profile gets a verified badge. The comparison is done by Amazon Rekognition on Liyag's behalf, and the selfie is used for nothing else. The verification privacy policy has the details.
Verification is optional. That is deliberate: some people are not comfortable sharing a selfie, and they can still use Liyag. But you decide who you see. Switch on Verified only in your filters and unverified profiles disappear from your feed.
A phone check before anyone can message you
To send a like or a message, a member must first confirm their phone number with a one-time code sent over WhatsApp. One number can hold one account. That makes it expensive to run fake accounts in bulk, which is how most dating spam works.
Your number is never shown to other members, in your profile or in chats.
Screenshots blocked
On Android, Liyag blocks screenshots and screen recording across the app. Your photos and your conversations stay inside Liyag, not in someone's gallery. A determined person can still photograph a screen with another phone, so share personal details only when you are ready.
Reports that lead somewhere
Every profile and chat has a report option. Reports are reviewed, and each upheld report adds a strike to the account. Strikes lead to bans of up to 90 days. Anything involving a minor is removed permanently and reported to the authorities; see our child safety standards.
Her Challenge keeps the first move in her hands
In Her Challenge, women receive answers to a question they chose, from at most ten men, without seeing who wrote them. There is no inbox to flood.
What Liyag cannot do
Liyag cannot run criminal background checks, and no app can guarantee how a person behaves. The habits that keep you safe are the same ones that always have: meet in public, tell a friend, arrange your own ride, and never send money to someone you have not met.
Questions about safety
Are all Liyag profiles verified?
No. Verification is optional. Verified profiles carry a badge, and you can switch on the Verified only filter to see nobody else.
Can other members see my phone number?
No. Your number is used to confirm you are a real person and is never shown on your profile or in chats.
Does Liyag do background checks?
No. Liyag can confirm that a verified member's selfie matches their photos, but it cannot check anyone's history or vouch for their behaviour. Meet in public and trust your instincts.
What happens after I report someone?
